playwright, librettist, lyricist

Sierra Hitchcock is a former dancer who traded her pointe shoes for a pen, continuing her love of the performing arts as a playwright, librettist, and lyricist.

In her work, Sierra enjoys setting serious questions within entertaining frameworks, exploring the humor in the human, and examining the ways in which we are inclined towards folly. Sierra’s short play, The [CENSORED] Grant, has been produced by Burlington County Footlighters, and will be produced by StageWorks Theatre Group and 4th Street Theater this summer along with being published in The Coachella Review. Her full-length comedies include Ruckus Forum and Edgar Allan Poltergeist.

Sierra’s writing partnership with her father has yielded several projects including the new musical, Speakerheart (Florida Festival of New Musicals), the light-hearted dark comedy, Way South of Eden, and an original adaptation of A Christmas Carol (Weston Theater Company). Their short play, Glow in the Dark, has been produced at the Boston Theater Marathon and Firehouse Center for the Arts.

Sierra graduated summa cum laude with a BA in History from Northeastern University, and maintains her connection to the dance world as a contributing writer to Pointe Magazine.

Born and raised in New Hampshire, Sierra now resides in New York City.
